LU1 – Microscopy and Pathological Diagnostics Unit The Unit conducts histological and ultrastructural studies of healthy and pathological specimens for research and diagnostic purposes. Activities include morphometric and etiopathogenetic studies of animal diseases through microscopic examinations, using advanced intravitam and postmortem techniques. The main areas of expertise include comparative anatomy and pathology, neuroscience, oncology, and veterinary pathological anatomy in domestic, livestock, laboratory, wild, and exotic animals, including necropsy and forensic pathology. The Unit evaluates prognostic markers in oncology, develops ex vivo models, and conducts whole-slide morphometric analyses using AI-based image analysis software and confocal microscopy.
