LU2 – Microbiological, Biochemical, and Molecular Analysis Unit

The Unit brings together specialised expertise in the fields of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology, primarily applied to the Hygiene and Inspection of foods of animal origin, Biochemistry, and Veterinary Physiology. This includes the application and development of innovative molecular, biochemical, and omics methods in diagnostics and parasitological, virological, and bacteriological research. Activities are developed along an integrated path that combines research, diagnostics, and technical-scientific support for the agri-food and veterinary sectors.

The Unit also performs advanced molecular and microbiological analyses on numerous biological matrices and products of animal origin, with applications ranging from food safety to the environmental and wildlife sectors, to biotechnology applied to veterinary sciences and biomedicine.

Finally, the Unit is able to support companies with food safety management activities.

  • Microbiological Analysis Service for Foods of Animal Origin, Feed, and Forage
  • Molecular Biology Service applied to Food Hygiene and Sanitation Control and Authentication
  • Support Service for Companies in Food Safety Management, Exports, and Certifications
  • Biochemical Analysis Service for Foods and Animal Biological Matrices
